Scalds and burns

Burns and scalds are injuries of the skin and mucous membranes to the evolving nature caused by heat (hot liquids, flames, electricity, etc..) Or by chemical agents.

The burns are divided into levels:
1st degree: superficial lesions, heals in two to five days without leaving traces;
2nd grade: deeper lesion with formation of vesicles and blisters that healed in 15 days
3rd degree: full-thickness lesion with loss of the ability to regenerate tissue and scarred for life
4th grade: serious injury whose evolution as well as the extension of the burn area is linked to several factors (age, time elapsed before rescue, etc.).

The severity of a burn is proportional to its size, but the interest of sensitive areas such as face, hands or feet and its genital form  ustione assume the character of gravity regardless of its extension. People suffering from burns or burns must be submitted as soon as possible to medical care.

The superficial burns, which cause only a skin redness, heal within 10-15 days, leaving a slight hyperpigmentation (a kind of 'tan' localized) that pales in the space of months or years, to return to normal color of surrounding healthy skin.

The more severe burns, those in which there was tissue damage with cell death, heal with a scar: the scar is much more serious as were the deep burn. In scar tissue there are no elastic fibers and skin tends to wrinkled and therefore lose its appendages (hair, sweat glands, sebaceous glands).
